On June 2, 2026, at 0837 central daylight time, an AutoGyro Cavalon gyroplane, N113CX, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Coffeyville, Kansas. The pilot was not injured. The gyroplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
According to the pilot, he was on his second solo flight of the day. During takeoff, about 10 to 30 ft above the runway, the gyroplane started to shake violently and roll to the left. The pilot attempted to correct the roll with full right cyclic and rudder but was unable to regain control. The gyroplane impacted terrain, bounced, and rolled several times across the ground before coming to rest on its left side resulting in substantial damage to the empennage, fuselage, and main rotors.
The gyroplane was recovered to a secure facility for further examination.
