According to the pilot, he had performed one go-around because he felt his speed was too fast. During the second attempt to land, the airplane landed hard and departed the right side of the runway. The right main landing gear separated and the nose gear collapsed. Examination of the airframe revealed that the engine was partially separated from the fuselage and there was substantial damage to the right wing spar box. The pilot did not report mechanical anomalies or failures prior to the accident.
According to the pilot, he allowed the airplane’s airspeed to decay on final approach. He noted that this resulted in a loss of control and a hard landing. The airplane sustained damage to both wing spars, the landing gear, and both ailerons during the landing. The pilot stated that there were no failures or malfunctions associated with the airplane prior to the accident.
